HAIR TRANSPLANT

RESTORE YOUR CROWNING GLORY WITH THE HAIR TRANSPLANT TREATMENT. THIS MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURE INVOLVES THE TRANSPLANT OF HEALTHY HAIR GRAFTS ONTO YOUR SCALP WHERE HAIR LOSS IS VISIBLE.

THIS PROCESS IS CALLED THE FOLLICULAR UNIT EXTRACTION OR FUE PROCESS FOR SHORT. IT INVOLVES EXTRACTING HEALTHY HAIR FOLLICLES FROM A DONOR PART AND THEN IMPLANTED TO THE AFFECTED AREAS. THIS PROCEDURE HAS TO BE PERFORMED IN A STERILE ENVIRONMENT WITH AN EXPERIENCED DOCTOR. THE DOCTOR WILL USE A SPECIAL EXTRACTION INSTRUMENT TO EXTRACT THE HAIR FOLLICLE FROM THE DONOR AREA AND THEN TRANSFERS IT TO THE RECIPIENT AREA ON YOUR SCALP. THIS HAIR FOLLICLE IS THEN IMPLANTED INTO THE SCALP WITH A POWERFUL STEREO MICROSCOPE IN A CLUSTER OF 1 TO 4 STRANDS OF HAIR TO MIMIC HOW IT WOULD NATURALLY GROW. THE GRAFTS HAS TO BE BLENDED INTO THE HAIR AND HAS TO BE INSERTED AT A SPECIFIC ANGLE & DENSITY THAT MATCHED THE ORIGINAL HAIR PATTERN TO CREATE NATURAL LOOKING RESULTS.

LOCAL ANAESTHESIA IS USED DURING THIS TREATMENT AND IS MINIMALLY INVASIVE SO PATIENTS ARE FULLY CONSCIOUS. THIS FUE PROCESS IS A LOW RISK AND HAS A SHORT RECOVERY PERIOD.

Q&A

How it works

This process is called the follicular unit extraction or FUE process for short. It involves extracting healthy hair follicles from a donor part and then implanted to the affected areas. This procedure has to be performed in a sterile environment with an experienced doctor. The doctor will use a special extraction instrument to extract the hair follicle from the donor area and then transfers it to the recipient area on your scalp. This hair follicle is then implanted into the scalp with a powerful stereo microscope in a cluster of 1 to 4 strands of hair to mimic how it would naturally grow.

What to expect

Prior to your first treatment, your doctor will consult with you to assess your hair problem, expectations and concerns and to advise what is the best way to address them. Your doctor will also determine if you are suitable for the procedure, numbers of hair grafts required, downtime and risks involved.

Benefits

The grafts has to be blended into the hair and has to be inserted at a specific angle & density that matched the original hair pattern to create natural looking results. Good for patient with unwanted hair loss/alopecia in good health and adequate donor density. This means that there should be enough hair from the donor area.

Downtime

Local anesthesia is used during this treatment and is minimally invasive so patients are fully conscious. This FUE process is a low risk and has a short recovery period. Almost all patients are able to go back to their normal routines post FUE hair transplant.

Post treatment care

Avoid going to the steam room, sauna, swimming, excessive alcohol intake and engaging in exercise over the next 2 weeks. Avoid vigorous rubbing and frequent touching on the treatment area to prevent risk of infection. Patient will be advised on post treatment hair care after the procedure.

Follow up

Patient will have to return to the clinic in the first few days for post treatment follow up and proper hair wash instruction during your recovery. Two weeks after a hair transplant, it is normal for the transplanted hair to fall off (shedding phase). For the next couple of months, new and normal hair growth may take place, taking up to 6-9 months to fully regrow.
