How it works
The Fotona MaQx Acne Scar Laser utilized FS20A fractional handpiece initiating laser induced optical breakdown (LIOB) which is a phenomenon that occurs when short pulsed high-energy lasers (picosecond laser) induce deep dermal cavitation as result of a non-thermal photomechanical effect. LIOB is effective in detaching the fibrotic scar tissue, namely with box scars and rolling acne scars.
The laser gently targets acne scars by vaporizing micron-thin layers of the scarred surface and detaching deep fibrotic scar tissue to reveal healthy, undamaged smooth skin.
What to expect
Prior to your first treatment, your doctor will consult with you to assess your skin conditions and your suitability for the Fotona MaQx Acne Scar Laser treatment and discuss any concerns or questions you may have. The treatment will involve our doctor assessing your acne scars and utilizing the best laser platform and setting to effectively achieve your desired results.
Unlike chemical peels / dermabrasion, the Fotona MaQx Acne Scar Laser allows the penetration depth to be precisely controlled.
The downtime is usually 3-5 days of skin redness, and mild scabbing might occur.
Post treatment care
Daily hydrating and moisturizing, Sunscreen against UVA & UVB with SPF 50+ and above.
To achieve the best results, therapeutic course of average 6-8 treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart is recommended. Combination treatment with MD Fractional RF with microneedling, Subcision for tethering scars and Rejuran Scar would provide optimal results.
